The Rural America Writers' Center was officially founded in 2005 to provide a forum for Southeast Minnesota writers. The primary activities of the Writers' Center included the 3rd Wednesdays Reading Series and publication of the literary magazine the Green Blade
The 3rd Wednesday Reading Series has been featuring writers from across Minnesota since 2004. Meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month each evening includes a reading by the featured writer and an open mic where other writers share their work.
