The Rural America Arts Center was started in 2004 and has grown over the years to encompass a diverse range of activiies and interests for artists, writers, and civic leaders. In conjuction with the the Rural America Arts Partnership and the Jon Hassler Theater, RAAC has been sponsoring literary readings since 2004 and a literary magazine since 2006. The Greenwood Prairie Art Gallery was opened in 2009 and Up for Discussion has been bring the community together for more than a year. Words and Afterwords Bookstore also provided a gathering place for local artists.

The Rural America Arts Center is a community based arts organization dedicated to providing support to southeastern Minnesota artists and promote the arts in Plainview and the other communities we serve.

Rural America Writers' Center

Up for Discussion

Every month on the first Saturday a community discussion is held in the Arts Center lobby. Beginng at 9:30 am, a pre-chosen topic is discussed over coffee, tea, and snacks. Civility and respect are maintained as participants come prepared to learn rather than to convince...Read More
